ATASS Sports is a statistical research consultancy providing high quality modelling and analysis for the sports industry.

Advanced statistical techniques and methodology have been used for many mainstream applications such as medical statistics and financial modelling, but it is only recently that they have been applied to professional sports.

ATASS recruit Statistical modellers and O.R. analysts to work within new and established multi-skilled teams to develop novel statistical models, incorporating real-time information, in order to enhance understanding of the complex relationships inherent in competitive sports.

Dstl

Dstlīs purpose is to maximise the impact of science and technology for the defence and security of the UK.

Dstlīs science and technology work covers a range of applications and disciplines including social science, mathematics and engineering and includes research, advice, consultancy, technical and systems risk management, and related activities.

Dstl offers a two-year Graduate Development Programme and look to recruit people from a wide range of scientific and technological disciplines including O.R.

GORS - Government Operational Research Service

Careers Day

GORS supports and champions O.R. across government. GORS currently supports policy-making, strategy and operations in many different departments and agencies and employs around 400 analysts, ranging from sandwich students to members of the Senior Civil Service.

O.R. specialists advise government on how to make the best possible use of public money. With their skills in modelling and analysis, they help formulate government policy and find effective ways of putting it into practice.

RBS - Royal Bank of Scotland

RBS

RBS employ thousands of people working collaboratively around the globe, supporting many leading brands and more than 40 million customers.

The Predictive Analytics group is a central modelling function of around 40 people who support RBS Retail Risk and are based in Edinburgh. Their technical expertise is used across several different departments, including teams which are responsible for developing Basel models such as Loss Given Default, Exposure at Default and Probability of Default models and credit & fraud risk scorecards. The group also have a dedicated team which develops innovative scoring solutions using optimisation/mathematical programming among other techniques.

Tesco's internal consulting and O.R. team is responsible for improving the efficiency of many aspects of Tesco's supply chain. The team are the market leaders in the work they do and combine analytical problem solving with the real world challenge of implementing change quickly within one of the world's largest retailers.

The work the team does is fundamental to the long term success of Tesco, and because of this the team is constantly growing and contains a diverse group of people with a variety of backgrounds including consulting and retail alongside recent graduates. One thing they all have in common is a strong science or numerical degree.
